Sukta 48
ये रात्रिमनुतिष्ठन्ति ये च भूतेषु जाग्रति । पशून् ये सर्वान् रक्षन्ति ते न आत्मसु जाग्रति ते नः पशुषु जाग्रति
yé rā́trim anutíṣṭhanti yé ca bhūtéṣu jā́grati | paśū́n yé sárvān rákṣanti té na ātmásu jāgrati té naḥ paśúṣu jāgrati ||
They who attend upon the Night, and they who keep awake among beings; they who guard all cattle—let them keep watch over our persons, let them keep watch over our herds.
ਜੋ ਰਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਤਿਸ਼ਠਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਭੂਤੇਸ਼ੁ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ) ਜਾਗਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ—ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਆਤਮਸੁ (ਸਾਡੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਜਾਗਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ, ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ।
