Sukta 4
आ त्वाग्न इधीमहि द्युमन्तं देवाजरम्। यद् घ सा ते पनीयसी समिद् दीदयति द्यवि । इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
ā́ tvā́gne idhīmahi dyumántaṃ devā́jaram | yád ghá sā́ té panī́yasī samíd dī́dayati dyávi | íṣaṃ stotṛ́bhya ā́ bhara
Hither we kindle thee, O Agni, radiant, the god that waxeth not old. For when, indeed, that thy most gracious kindling-stick blazeth in the sky, then bring thou nourishment unto the praisers.
ਹੇ ਅਗਨੀ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਜ੍ਵਲਿਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ—ਦ੍ਯੁਮੰਤ, ਦੇਵ, ਅਜਰ (ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ)। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਸਮਿਧ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਦਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭੜਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਸਤੋਤਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ (ਇਸ਼) ਇੱਥੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਦੇ।
