Sukta 2
कीर्तिश्च यशश्च पुरःसरावैनं कीर्तिर्गच्छत्या यशो गच्छति य एवं वेद॥१६ स उदतिष्ठत् स प्रतीचीं दिशमनु व्यऽचलत्
kīrtíś ca yáśaś ca puraḥsarā́v enaṁ kīrtír gácchaty ā́ yáśo gácchati yá eváṁ véda ||16|| sá úd atiṣṭhat sá pratī́cīṁ díśam ánu vy-àcalat
Fame and Glory, as his forerunners, go before him; Fame goes, and Glory comes unto him—whoso thus knoweth. He arose; he moved forth following the western quarter.
ਕੀਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਸ਼ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੁਰਸਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ; ਕੀਰਤੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਯਸ਼ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ—ਜੋ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ; ਪੱਛਮੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਣ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਿਆ।
