It imparts Ayurvedic clinical guidance for jvara (fever): when doṣas are in a pakva (matured/processed) stage, specific bitter/cooling drugs—paṭola, neem (with fruit), parpaṭa, and pomegranate—are recommended, along with other named plant-drugs.
By listing practical pharmacological substances and an indication-based rule (pakva-doṣa jvara), it shows the Agni Purana functioning as a compendium that preserves medical materia medica and therapeutic reasoning alongside its ritual and mythic content.
Though primarily medical, it reflects the Purāṇic ideal of dharma through preservation of life and health—supporting bodily well-being so that one can continue ritual duties, study, and ethical living.
