Related Themes: Avatāra-kathā sequence in Agni Purāṇa (Varāha episode); Cosmogony passages describing Earth and oceans
No ritual or procedural vidyā is taught here; the verse conveys avatāra-kathā: Viṣṇu as Varāha destroys adharma (Hiraṇyākṣa), protects the devas, and restores cosmic order by raising the Earth.
Alongside manuals on worship, polity, medicine, and poetics, the Agni Purāṇa preserves foundational purāṇic cosmology and avatāra history—here summarizing the Varāha episode as a key template for restoration of dharma and world-order.
The takeaway is that divine protection responds to the defeat of adharma: remembering Varāha’s rescue of Bhūmi is traditionally held to strengthen faith in dharma, inspire righteous protection of the vulnerable, and purify the mind through devotion to Viṣṇu’s world-sustaining acts.
