It identifies a Vaiṣṇava (Viṣṇu-oriented) framing of Gāyatrī as a mantra-upāsanā whose stated fruits are pāpa-śamana (removal of demerit) and kāma-siddhi (attainment of desired aims).
Alongside law, polity, medicine, and arts, the Agni Purāṇa catalogs mantra-vidyā and sectarian devotional mappings—here, classifying Gāyatrī within Vaiṣṇava theology and linking it to a defined soteriological goal (Viṣṇu’s paramam padam).
The verse asserts that knowing/embracing Gāyatrī as Vaiṣṇavī leads to purification from all sins and supports fulfillment of legitimate desires, culminating in orientation toward Viṣṇu’s highest abode.
