Related Themes: Agni Purana 259 (abhicāra-pratiṣedha mantrāḥ)
It prescribes an apotropaic (shanti) procedure: offering ghee and pāyasa while uttering a specific formula to pacify serpent-forces and neutralize abhicāra (hostile sorcery).
Alongside theology and dharma, the Agni Purana catalogs practical protective rites—mantras, offerings, and targeted remedies—showing its coverage of applied ritual technology used for safeguarding rulers and households.
By offering and saluting rather than attacking, the rite emphasizes pacification (śānti): it seeks to remove harm through propitiation and purification, aiming to dissolve hostile influences without generating further negative karma.
