FAQs

It gives a procedural rule for mandala-style worship: establish eight lotus-seats starting from the east, perform japa beginning with Śiva and Viṣṇu, worship the central shrine/temple-center first, then offer worship to Indra (Śakra) and other associated deities in the peripheral lotus placements.

It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s manual-like coverage of applied ritual technology—diagrammatic deity placement (lotus seats), sequencing (center first, then directions), and mantra-japa—showing how the text functions as a practical handbook alongside its mythic and doctrinal material.

The ordered worship—centered on the temple’s heart and extended to directional deities—symbolizes harmonizing the sacred center with the cosmic directions, supporting ritual completeness (pūrṇatā), purification, and the accrual of merit through correctly sequenced archana and japa.
