FAQs

It enumerates key components of disciplined religious observance—regulated (sanctified) eating, maintaining the ritual hair-mark (cūḍā/śikhā), and brahmacarya-vratas—then classifies the practice into four streams: Vaiṣṇavī, Pārthī, Bhautikī, and Śrotrikī.

By cataloging ritual disciplines and giving a technical fourfold taxonomy of practice, it exemplifies the Agni Purana’s compendium style—systematizing vrata, samskāra markers, and sectarian/traditional modes alongside its many other subjects.

It frames bodily discipline (diet, external marks, celibate restraint) as structured religious practice, implying purification, steadiness in worship, and merit (puṇya) through regulated conduct aligned with an authorized tradition or devotional mode.
