tāṃbūlaṃ bhakṣayitvā yo naitaddānaṃ prayacchati | tāṃbūlavarjitaḥ so'tra bhavejjanmanijanmani
Skanda (warning/negative phala to the king)
Type: kshetra
Listener: A king (महीपते/राजन् addressed)
Scene: A pilgrim/householder enjoys tāmbūla while a neglected brāhmaṇa/guest stands nearby; the scene foreshadows karmic deprivation across repeated births.
Enjoyment without dharmic reciprocity (dāna) is censured; neglecting prescribed giving leads to loss of auspicious benefit.
This verse states a karmic consequence and does not mention a specific pilgrimage site.
One who consumes tāmbūla should also perform the prescribed dāna; otherwise a negative fruit is declared.
