Sūta
Type: kshetra
Listener: munayaḥ (sages)
Scene: Sūta’s son begins the narration; sages lean forward in attentive listening; a subtle aura of purification is suggested—dark wisps (sins) dissolving into the air as the words are spoken.
Śravaṇa (devout listening) to sacred māhātmyas is itself a purifier and a dharmic practice that burns daily sins.
The verse praises the māhātmya in general; the specific tīrtha context lies in the surrounding Nāgarakhaṇḍa narrative.
Listening attentively to the māhātmya as a purificatory observance.
