King (mahīpati)
Scene: A king in court, hands folded, offering garments, gold, and food to seated Brahmin elders; behind them a faint suggestion of a tīrtha landscape (riverbank/temple spire) indicating the pilgrimage setting.
Honoring the righteous and upholding sacred grants brings stability and prosperity—dharma safeguards the kingdom.
The broader chapter is tīrtha-centered, but this verse is a general dharmic assurance aimed at rulers.
Sevā/dharma-practice: pleasing and supporting the Brahmin beneficiaries of the grant.
