Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Maṅgaleśvara
Type: kshetra
Listener: Rājendra (king), contextually the Pāṇḍava king in this Revā dialogue frame
Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya instructs a king on pilgrimage; in the background stands Maṅgaleśvara temple with a prominent liṅga shrine, flags, and pilgrims approaching; a symbolic ‘son of the earth’ founder is shown installing the liṅga for the people’s welfare.
Pilgrimage is framed as dharma that supports both personal auspiciousness and the welfare of society.
Maṅgaleśvara, a Śiva-site introduced at the start of Revā Khaṇḍa Adhyāya 69.
A direct pilgrimage injunction: “one should go” (gacchet) for Maṅgaleśvara-darśana.
