श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । चित्रोनाम महातेजा इन्द्रस्य दयितः पुरा । तस्य पुत्रो नृपश्रेष्ठ पत्त्रेश्वर इति श्रुतः

ଶ୍ରୀ ମାର୍କଣ୍ଡେୟ କହିଲେ— ପୂର୍ବକାଳରେ ‘ଚିତ୍ର’ ନାମକ ଏକ ମହାତେଜସ୍ବୀ ଥିଲେ, ଯିଏ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରିୟ ଥିଲେ। ହେ ନୃପଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ! ତାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ‘ପତ୍ତ୍ରେଶ୍ୱର’ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ବୋଲି ଶୁଣାଯାଏ।
