Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Dāru-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: Yudhiṣṭhira
Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya narrates beside a calm Narmadā; the north bank shows a forested ford labeled Dāru-tīrtha; a brāhmaṇa ascetic sits in deep meditation, aura indicating siddhi.
A sacred place (tīrtha) becomes a doorway to spiritual perfection when approached with disciplined austerity (tapas) and devotion.
Dāru-tīrtha, described as located on the northern bank of the river Narmadā (Revā).
No explicit ritual is prescribed here; the verse introduces the tīrtha’s greatness through the account of a Brāhmaṇa’s tapas leading to siddhi.
