Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Amarakanṭaka
Type: kshetra
Listener: A king (nṛpa/rajendra addressed)
Scene: A wide sacred mountain vista of Amarakanṭaka: forested slopes, hermitages, sages in meditation, devas subtly present in the sky; the mountain radiates as a ‘siddhi-kṣetra’.
The sanctity of a place is affirmed through its continuous ‘resort’ by divine beings and its long tradition of ṛṣi-sevā and tapas.
Amarakantaka mountain is explicitly praised as a siddhi-kṣetra.
No single rite is commanded; the verse implies pilgrimage and sustained spiritual practice at a siddhi-kṣetra.
