sargaśca pratisargaśca vaṃśo manvantarāṇi ca | vaṃśānucaritaṃ caiva purāṇaṃ pañcalakṣaṇam

Translation

ସର୍ଗ, ପ୍ରତିସର୍ଗ, ବଂଶ, ମନ୍ୱନ୍ତର ଏବଂ ବଂଶାନୁଚରିତ—ଏହି ପାଞ୍ଚ ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଥିଲେ ତାହାକୁ ‘ପୁରାଣ’ କୁହାଯାଏ।
