It highlights that true devotion in Shaiva tradition is shown through disciplined obedience to Śiva’s ājñā (divine command) and through performing duties with ritual purity and reverence.
By stressing “Śiva’s command” and “vidhi,” the verse reflects Saguna Śiva worship where prescribed conduct (ācāra) and ritual correctness support devotion—similar to the careful procedures followed in Liṅga-pūjā.
The takeaway is adherence to vidhi (proper rites) and śauca (purity). Practically, one may pair external cleanliness with inner remembrance—japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” while performing duties reverently.
