Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: A general mahātmyā statement: the collective glory of Śiva-liṅgas is ‘adbhuta’—granting sarva-kāma (legitimate fulfillments) and, for bhaktas, mokṣa; it frames liṅga as a universal conduit of Śiva’s grace.
Significance: Promises both bhukti (desired attainments) and mukti (liberation), with a clear hierarchy: devotion is the qualifying disposition for mokṣa—echoing Siddhānta’s emphasis on Śiva’s anugraha overcoming pāśa.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It declares the Śiva-liṅga as a powerful, grace-filled focus of worship: it fulfills righteous aims in life and, more importantly, leads the devotee toward mokṣa through bhakti—consistent with the Shaiva view that devotion to Pati (Śiva) removes bondage.
The liṅga is presented as Saguna-Śiva’s accessible form for daily pūjā—an embodied support for meditation and surrender—through which Śiva’s transcendent (nirguṇa) liberating grace is realized.
Regular liṅga-pūjā with water/abhiṣeka, repetition of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and a bhakti-centered intention (seeking purification and liberation beyond mere worldly gain).
