ब्राह्मणासो अतिरात्रे न सोमे सरो न पूर्णमभितो वदन्तः । संवत्सरस्य तदहः परि ष्ठ यन्मण्डूकाः प्रावृषीणं बभूव ॥

brāhmaṇā́so atirātré ná sóme sáro ná pūrṇám abhíto vádantaḥ | saṃvatsarásya tád áhar pári ṣṭha yán maṇḍūkāḥ prāvṛṣī́ṇaṃ babhū́va ||

ଅତିରାତ୍ରରେ ସୋମପାନ କରୁଥିବା ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣମାନଙ୍କ ପରି, ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସରୋବର ପରି, ସେମାନେ ସବୁଦିଗରେ ଚାରିପାଖେ ଗୁଞ୍ଜି କଥା କହନ୍ତି। ସେଇ ଦିନଟି ବର୍ଷର ମୋଡ଼କୁ ଚିହ୍ନିତ କରେ—ଯେତେବେଳେ ମଣ୍ଡୂକମାନେ ‘ବର୍ଷାର’ ହୋଇଯାନ୍ତି; କାଳର ଯଜ୍ଞ ପୁନଃ ଖୋଲିଯାଏ ଏବଂ ବାଣୀ ନିଜ ବୃତ୍ତକୁ ଫେରିଆସେ।
