(Sarga 73): Mithilā Vivāha
Kanyādāna and the Fourfold Marriage Rites
śatrughnaṁ cāpi dharmātmā abravīj janakeśvaraḥ | śrutakīrtyā mahābāho pāṇiṁ gṛhṇīṣva pāṇinā ||
The righteous king Janaka, said again: "O Mighty-armed Satrughna take the hands of Srutakirti".
Marriage is presented as a dhārmic institution entered through consent, ritual propriety, and public responsibility—each union is affirmed openly and correctly.
Janaka completes the sequence of bride-giving by instructing Śatrughna to accept Śrutakīrti.
Janaka’s dharma-minded governance (dharmātmā) and Śatrughna’s disciplined acceptance of duty.
