The Discourse of Rukmāṅgada
Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma
tatra vai bhojanaṃ deyaṃ viprāṇāṃ ca mahātmanām | athavā jyeṣṭhapatnī yā sā karotu vratādikam | evamukte tu vacane mohinyā rukmabhūṣaṇaḥ || 5 ||
Narrator (Purāṇic narrative frame; the verse reports Mohinī’s instruction and Rukmabhūṣaṇa’s reaction)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: hasya
It links vrata-phala (the fruit of vows) with dāna—especially feeding worthy brāhmaṇas—showing that devotion and merit are strengthened through self-discipline plus charitable offering.
By prescribing vrata and respectful service (bhojana-dāna) to the righteous, it frames bhakti as lived practice—purifying intention through observance and honoring dharmic representatives.
Ritual procedure (kalpa-oriented practice) is implied: proper vrata-vidhi and dāna-vidhi—who should be fed (vipra, mahātman) and how the observance may be delegated within the household (elder wife performing the rites).
