The Greatness of Kārtika

adīkṣitasya vāmoru kṛtaṃ sarvaṃ nirarthakam | paśuyonimavāpnoti dīkṣayā rahito naraḥ || 60 ||
Narada (in dialogue framework traditionally attributed within Narada Purana teachings)
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"bhayanaka","secondary_rasa":"shanta","emotional_journey":"Begins as a stark warning about the futility of acts without dīkṣā, culminating in fear-inducing consequence (animal birth), implicitly urging disciplined spiritual order."}
It emphasizes dīkṣā as the gate of adhikāra (spiritual and ritual eligibility): without proper initiation, actions lack sanctioned potency and do not yield the intended spiritual fruit.
It implies that devotion expressed through mantra and formal worship should be grounded in proper transmission (guru–śiṣya dīkṣā), so bhakti becomes disciplined, authorized, and spiritually effective rather than merely external.
Ritual procedure and eligibility (connected to Kalpa/Śrauta–Smārta praxis) are highlighted: initiation determines who may employ specific mantras and rites and how they are to be performed for valid results.
