Mohinī’s Speech
Mohinyāḥ Bhāṣaṇam
taṃ putraṃ kavayaḥ prāhurvācākhyamaparaṃ sutam | evamuktvā tu vacanaṃ devī saṃdhyāvalī tadā || 13 ||
Suta (narrator) [contextual narrator voice within the Purana’s recitation]
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It frames “Vāk” (sacred speech) as an identity-marker: the child is defined through Speech, hinting at the Purāṇic idea that mantra, naming, and utterance carry spiritual power and destiny.
Indirectly: by emphasizing “speech” as a defining principle, it supports the Bhakti practice of nāma-japa and stotra—devotion expressed and stabilized through sanctified utterance.
Vyākaraṇa (grammar) and Śikṣā (phonetics) are implied through the sanctity of correct naming and speech—core supports for mantra-recitation and ritual correctness in Purāṇic practice.
