Narada (as a vrata/tapas practitioner, expressing a vow of austerity in the instructional narrative)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: tapas (vira-tinged shanta)
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It highlights tapas (austerity) as a deliberate vow: reducing bodily comfort and taste-pleasures to strengthen self-mastery and seriousness in dharma-sadhana.
By renouncing indulgence (sweets, ghee) and accepting hardship, the practitioner curbs distraction and ego, making the mind steadier for remembrance and devotion to the Lord.
It reflects kalpa-style niyamas (practical rule-making for vows and observances): specific food restrictions and bodily disciplines used to structure vrata and tapas.
