Adhyaya 90 — The Slaying of Shumbha and the Reabsorption of the Goddesses into Ambika
तस्यापतत एवाशु खड्गं चिच्छेद चण्डिका ।
धनुर्मुक्तैः शितैर्बाणैश्चर्म चार्ककरामलम् ॥
tasyāpatata evāśu khaḍgaṃ ciccheda caṇḍikā / dhanurmuktaiḥ śitair bāṇaiś carma cārkakarāmalam
ସେ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରୁଥିବାବେଳେ ଚଣ୍ଡିକା ଶୀଘ୍ର ତାହାର ଖଡ୍ଗ କାଟିଦେଲେ; ଏବଂ ନିଜ ଧନୁରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ତୀକ୍ଷ୍ଣ ବାଣରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟକିରଣସମ ଉଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ ତାହାର ଢାଳକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ବିଦ୍ଧ କରିଦେଲେ।
Divine action is both compassionate and precise: it disarms aggression (sword) and nullifies defenses (shield) that protect wrongdoing.

The sword can symbolize violent intent; the shield symbolizes rationalizations and self-protection of ego. Devī’s arrows (focused awareness) penetrate both.
