Adhyaya 82 — The Rise of Mahishasura and the Manifestation of the Goddess from the Gods’ Tejas
tiṣṭha tiṣṭheti bhāṣanto devīmanye mahāsurāḥ / rudhiraughaviluptāṅgāḥ saṃgrāme lomaharṣaṇe
Adharma, when it confronts the Divine, devolves into desperate bravado; the verse underscores the inevitability of the fall of violent power when it opposes the cosmic order upheld by Devī.
Primarily within Manvantara/Anucarita (narratives within a Manvantara), illustrating divine intervention and the restoration of order through Devī’s acts.
The ‘flood of blood’ imagery symbolizes the outflow of tamasic aggression consuming itself; the taunt ‘tiṣṭha’ reflects the ego’s last stand before being dissolved by Śakti.
