Adhyaya 58 — The Kurma-Form of Narayana: Mapping Bharata through Nakshatras, Regions, and Planetary Afflictions
kintu kūrmas tvayā pūrvaṃ bhārate bhagavān hariḥ | kathitas tasya saṃsthānaṃ śrotum icchāmy aśeṣataḥ ||

The verse models śravaṇa (careful listening) and precision in inquiry: cosmological symbols (like Kūrma) are to be understood in their full ‘saṃsthāna’—their conceptual shape and function.
It points toward avatāra-related narrative and cosmography: Hari’s Kūrma form is invoked to explain structural features of the world/land, linking divine descent with cosmic order.
Kūrma often signifies the sustaining base (ādhāra) beneath churning and transformation; asking its ‘saṃsthāna’ is asking about the hidden support that makes cosmic and human striving possible.
