FAQs

It teaches a mantra-prayoga: gorocanā is to be mantra-empowered through 1,000 recitations and then applied as a tilaka to produce social favor (priyatā).

Beyond mythology, the Agni Purana catalogs practical ritual technologies—mantra-siddha substances, cosmetic-ritual applications (tilaka), and their stated effects—showing its wide-ranging compendium style.

By combining mantra-japa with a sanctified tilaka, the act is framed as a dharmic, auspicious rite intended to harmonize one’s social relations and attract goodwill through ritually purified means.
