A key administrative act is appointing a capable senāpati, eligible from brāhmaṇa or kṣatriya backgrounds."}
Concept: Rājadharma: legitimate rule requires consecration plus competent delegation (amātya, senāpati).
Application: In governance design, separate ritual legitimacy from operational capacity: appoint qualified commanders and empower ministers for coordinated policy and defense.

Sandhi Resolution Notes: ’dhyāyaḥ = adhyāyaḥ after avagraha (…tamo ’dhyāyaḥ). so ’bhiṣiktaḥ = saḥ abhiṣiktaḥ. śatrūn written as śatrūn (acc. pl.). Title/colophon material included; āṇe treated as uncertain editorial token.
Related Themes: Agni Purana 219 (abhiṣeka-mantra conclusion); Agni Purana 220 (sahāya-sampatti / rājadharma sequence)
It links royal abhiṣeka (consecration) mantras with practical rajadharma: after consecration, the king should act with ministers and formally appoint a senāpati (commander) to prosecute victory.
It juxtaposes mantra-ritual (abhiṣeka) with administrative-military policy (ministerial support and selection of a commander), showing the Agni Purana’s coverage from liturgy to governance and war-management.
Consecration establishes the king’s sacral legitimacy and protective auspice; acting in counsel with amātyas and appointing a qualified senāpati aligns rule with dharma, supporting righteous protection of the realm.
