Related Themes: Agni Purana 282 (Svedana and external upacāras for kṣata/vrana)
It teaches an Ayurvedic wound-care procedure: preparing a piṇḍī-svedana (bolus fomentation) using specific ingredients (śrīkārpāsa petals, ash, fruit component, rock salt, turmeric), processed in a copper vessel and applied with oil for treating kṣata (wounds/ulcers).
Beyond theology, the Agni Purāṇa preserves applied medical know-how—listing ingredients, processing medium (copper vessel), and a defined therapy method (piṇḍī-svedana). This is characteristic of its wide-ranging, handbook-like coverage of practical sciences such as Ayurveda.
While primarily medical, such prescriptions reflect dharmic care of the body as a support for sādhana and duty; healing and preserving life is treated as a meritorious, welfare-oriented act (lokānugraha) consistent with Purāṇic ethics.
