Concept: Unity of method across dosage forms: one principle of proper concentration governs multiple preparations.

Application: Standardize quality control: judge completion by concentration/pāka criteria whether making ghṛta/taila or avaleha.

FAQs

It teaches an Ayurvedic pharmaceutical rule: medicated fats (sneha like ghee/oil) are properly processed using a reduced/concentrated drug-decoction (saṃvartitauṣadha-pāka), and the same preparation logic is applied when making a lickable electuary (lehya/avaleha).

Beyond theology, the Agni Purana preserves practical technical knowledge—here, classical Ayurvedic pharmaceutics—by codifying how to cook and standardize medicinal formulations (sneha and lehya), reflecting its wide coverage of applied sciences.

By promoting correct, disciplined preparation of medicines for healing, the instruction supports dharmic care of the body (a vehicle for religious practice); proper healing and service are traditionally viewed as meritorious (puṇya) and conducive to purity and well-being.
