Sandhi Resolution Notes: पौर्णमासश् → पौर्णमासः + च; मरीचेरभवत् → मरीचेः + अभवत्; स्मृत्यामङ्गिरसः → स्मृत्याम् + अङ्गिरसः; कुहूस् → कुहूः (visarga sandhi before sibilant in recitation).
It encodes ritual-calendar theology by identifying Paurṇamāsa (full-moon/paurṇamāsa context) and the tithi-linked figures Sinīvālī and Kuhū within Prajāpati lineages—useful for mapping Vedic observances to their presiding deities/personifications.
By cataloguing progeny tied to lunar phases and rites, it functions like a reference index connecting cosmology, genealogy, and ritual timekeeping—one of the Agni Purāṇa’s hallmark encyclopedic methods.
Remembering and reciting such lineage-and-deity mappings is traditionally treated as purifying (smṛti/anuśravaṇa of sacred genealogies) and as aligning one’s ritual awareness with cosmic order (ṛta) expressed through lunar observances.
