Lord Agni (narrating Purāṇic/ritual allocations to Vasiṣṭha)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Dharmashastra","secondary_vidya":"Cosmology","practical_application":"Numerical allocation of daughters/associations to Soma and other figures functions as a mnemonic roster for ritual-cosmological mapping (e.g., lunar/astral and lineage correspondences).","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"List","entry_title":"Dakṣa’s allocations: 27 to Soma; 4 to Ariṣṭanemi; 2 to Bahuputra; 2 to Aṅgiras","lookup_keywords":["Soma","27","Ariṣṭanemi","Aṅgiras","Bahuputra"],"quick_summary":"A compact numerical list of Dakṣa’s distributions, anchoring later expansions (notably Soma’s 27) and preserving a structured genealogical-ritual memory."}

Alamkara Type: Saṅkhyā (numerical enumeration)

Concept: Cosmic order expressed through number and distribution—relationships encode structure in sarga narratives.

Application: Use the numeric roster as a memory scaffold when studying nakṣatra/lunar and progenitor networks (where Soma’s 27 is especially salient).

Khanda Section: Dāna & Yajña-vidhi (Ritual Donations and Sacrificial Allocations)

Primary Rasa: Adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: Shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A formal distribution tableau: Dakṣa assigns groups counted as 27, 4, 2, 2 to Soma, Ariṣṭanemi, Bahuputra, and Aṅgiras; Soma is emphasized with a lunar aura and a ring of 27 symbols.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, Soma with crescent and cool-toned halo, 27 small star/lotus emblems encircling him, Dakṣa gesturing allocation, other recipients (Ariṣṭanemi, Bahuputra, Aṅgiras) with smaller grouped emblems (4,2,2).","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting, heavy gold work: Soma radiant with silver-gold moon motif, 27 gem-like medallions around, Dakṣa presenting, other sages/deities receiving smaller sets, ornate borders.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore style, diagrammatic clarity: four recipients in a row with counted icon tokens above each (27/4/2/2), Dakṣa as allocator, soft colors and fine detailing suitable for instructional depiction.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, elegant assembly scene with precise grouping of attendants representing numbers, Soma distinguished by moon insignia, refined architecture backdrop, delicate calligraphy space for the numeric list."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"instructional","suggested_raga":"Khamaj","pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: catastro 'riṣṭanemine = catasraḥ + ariṣṭanemine; caivāṅgirase = ca + eva + āṅgirase.

FAQs

It specifies the numerical allocation of ritual shares/fees (dakṣiṇā or portions) assigned to named recipients (Soma, Ariṣṭanemi, Bahuputra, Aṅgiras) as part of a prescribed sacrificial distribution.

By recording precise, count-based ritual allocations to particular Vedic/purāṇic figures, it preserves procedural details of yajña-administration alongside the Purāṇa’s broader coverage of many disciplines.

Correctly distributing prescribed shares is treated as part of ritual correctness (yajña-śuddhi), supporting merit (puṇya) through faithful adherence to established sacrificial norms.
