hemāśvastatra dātavyaḥ sūryamuddiśya bhāmini | brāhmaṇe vedasaṃyukte tena dattā mahī bhavet
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (deduced); verse preserves an internal address to a female listener (“bhāmini”)
Tirtha: Durvāsāditya at Prabhāsa
Type: kshetra
Listener: ‘bhāmini’ (fair lady)
Scene: A donor presents a golden horse effigy (or richly caparisoned horse with gold ornaments) before a Sūrya shrine; a Veda-knowing brāhmaṇa receives it with ritual water; the earth-goddess motif subtly appears to signify ‘as though the earth is given’.
Purity of intention (uddeśa) and worthy recipients (Veda-yukta brāhmaṇa) magnify dāna into vast merit.
The continuing context is Prabhāsakṣetra, at the Durvāsāditya/Sūrya sacred setting.
Hema-aśva-dāna (donation of a golden horse) dedicated to Sūrya, given to a Veda-learned brāhmaṇa.
