Lord Shiva (Mahesha)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Role: teaching
The verse emphasizes Shiva’s supreme lordship (Pati) and the principle that even exalted deities function within Shiva’s ordinance; spiritually, it highlights śravaṇa (reverent listening) and alignment with Shiva’s will as a path to dharma and liberation.
By presenting Mahesha as the commanding Lord, it supports Saguna Shiva devotion—worshipping Shiva as the personal Supreme who directs cosmic order; Linga-worship embodies this sovereignty and invites devotees to approach Shiva as the ultimate refuge.
The direct takeaway is śravaṇa and manana—listening attentively to Shiva’s teachings and contemplating them; in practice, this pairs well with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined devotional hearing of Purana recitation.
