Lord Shiva (admonishing in a teaching context within the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; it is a didactic rebuke contrasting noble service and liberating brahmavidyā with inferior attachments and frivolous hearing.
Significance: General teaching: avoid kuśruti/ku-saṅga; seek brahmavidyā and sat-saṅga oriented to Śiva, the true teacher.
Role: teaching
It contrasts the noble path of liberating spiritual discipline (brahmavidyā) with inferior distractions, urging the seeker to choose what leads to Shiva-realization and freedom from bondage.
It implies prioritizing elevated Shiva-sādhana—such as focused devotion to Saguna Shiva through Linga worship—over trivial pursuits that weaken faith and inner purity.
A practical takeaway is to replace idle listening with śravaṇa of Shiva-tattva and steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), supported by disciplined worship.
