It identifies Maṇikarṇī and a nearby great tīrtha as exceptionally purifying, emphasizing that pilgrimage and contact with such sacred geography function as a dharmic means of removing accumulated pāpa.
By praising a holy site as ‘sin-destroying,’ the verse supports bhakti-oriented tīrtha-yātrā—approaching sacred places with श्रद्धा (faith) and reverence as an aid to inner purification that strengthens devotion.
The verse chiefly conveys tīrtha-mahātmya rather than a specific Vedāṅga; practically, it reflects dharma-śāstric ritual culture—recognizing auspicious locations and undertaking pilgrimage as a form of prayāścitta (expiatory purification).
