ज्ञानं च तन्मनुष्याणां यत्तेषां मृगृपक्षिणाम् ।
मनुष्याणां च यत्तेषां तुल्यमन्यत्तथोभयोः ॥
jñānaṃ ca tan manuṣyāṇāṃ yat teṣāṃ mṛgṛ-pakṣiṇām / manuṣyāṇāṃ ca yat teṣāṃ tulyam anyat tathobhayoḥ
«လူတို့တွင်ရှိသော ဉာဏ်အချို့သည် တိရစ္ဆာန်နှင့် ငှက်တို့၏ ဉာဏ်နှင့် တူညီသည်။ ထို့အတူ သူတို့တွင်ရှိသော ဉာဏ်အချို့သည် လူတို့၏ ဉာဏ်နှင့်လည်း တူညီသည်။ သို့သော် အခြားသော ဉာဏ်အချို့မှာ နှစ်ဖက်စလုံးနှင့် မတူကွဲပြားသည်»။

Cognition is partly shared (basic drives, learning, fear, care) and partly specialized; therefore, moral responsibility includes understanding common sentience while acknowledging different capacities.
