FAQs

It gives a practical rule of dharma/administrative conduct: how much portion is to be relinquished at different stages of a journey, and that wages (bhṛti) should be fully paid by the halfway point, even by a renouncer.

Beyond theology, it preserves applied norms of vyavahāra and rājadharma—quantified guidelines about shares and timely wage payment—showing the Purana’s coverage of social ethics and governance alongside ritual topics.

Timely relinquishment and fair payment reduce harm and deceit, supporting dharmic livelihood; such integrity is treated as merit-producing conduct that purifies one’s actions and social relations.
