FAQs

No ritual or technical vidyā is taught here; the verse functions as a genealogical record, listing successive descendants in a dynastic lineage.

By preserving structured dynastic genealogy (vaṃśāvalī), it complements the Agni Purāṇa’s wide-ranging coverage—serving as a reference framework that links persons, succession, and Purāṇic history alongside its sections on ritual, polity, medicine, and arts.

The significance is indirect: hearing and preserving righteous lineages is treated in Purāṇic tradition as śravaṇa of sacred history (itihāsa), supporting smṛti (religious memory) and reinforcing ideals of continuity, duty, and dharma across generations.
