FAQs

It imparts textual-archival knowledge: the traditional verse-count (extent) of specific Purāṇas and the attribution that the Agneya Purāṇa is Agni’s own instruction to Vasiṣṭha.

By cataloging and standardizing information about other Purāṇic corpora (names, relative extent, and provenance), it functions like a bibliographic index inside a single Purāṇa—one hallmark of the Agni Purāṇa’s encyclopedic scope.

By grounding the Agneya Purāṇa in a direct Agni→Vasiṣṭha transmission, the verse reinforces its scriptural authority (prāmāṇya), supporting faith in its teachings and the merit of studying/reciting an authenticated Purāṇic source.
