उपमा नाम सा यस्यामुपमानोपमेययोः सत्ता चान्तरसामान्ययोगित्वेपि विवक्षितं

upamā nāma sā yasyāmupamānopameyayoḥ sattā cāntarasāmānyayogitvepi vivakṣitaṃ

ဥပမာ (Upamā) ဟူသည်မှာ နှိုင်းယှဉ်စံ (upamāna) နှင့် နှိုင်းယှဉ်ခံအရာ (upameya) တို့အကြား ဆက်နွယ်မှုကို ရည်ရွယ်ဖော်ပြသည့် အလင်္ကာဖြစ်ပြီး၊ အတွင်းပိုင်းတွင် မျှဝေသော သာမန်ဂုဏ် (အတူတူသော သဘောလက္ခဏာ) ရှိခြင်းကို ဆိုလိုသည်၊ ယေဘုယျအားဖြင့် ထိုသို့တူညီနိုင်သော်လည်း။
