FAQs

It defines core ritual categories—varivasyā (service), śuśrūṣā (reverential attendance), paricaryā (ministrations), upāsanā (worship), niyama (restraint), and vrata (vowed observance), noting fasting (upavāsa) as a typical meritorious component.

By giving concise technical definitions of devotional and disciplinary terms used across pūjā, vrata, and dharma literature, it functions like a glossary—typical of the Agni Purana’s cataloging style across many knowledge-domains.

It frames service, worship, restraint, and vowed austerities (like fasting) as puṇya-producing disciplines—practices understood to purify conduct and accumulate religious merit.
