FAQs

It imparts Vyākaraṇa-vidyā: correct Sanskrit usage of indeclinables/adverbial forms for time (“evening,” “morning,” “daybreak”), proximity (“near”), and comparative notions (“earlier,” “more earlier”).

Beyond theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves practical linguistic instruction—lists of accepted forms and synonyms—showing it functions as a broad reference work that includes grammar and lexicon alongside dharma and worship.

By promoting śabda-śuddhi (purity and correctness of speech), it supports accurate recitation and communication of mantras and teachings, which tradition holds to be essential for the intended religious efficacy (phala).
