Related Themes: Agni Purana: śrāddha-vidhi and antyeṣṭi-related passages in the same khanda; piṇḍa/udaka procedures elsewhere
It specifies eligibility and substitution rules for daśāha śrāddha: the ādikartā performs after bathing and arranging provisions; if he is unavailable, a brahmacārin may carry out piṇḍa and udaka offerings.
It preserves procedural dharma for funeral and post-funeral rites—practical jurisprudence of ritual duty (karta, substitute officiant, required acts)—showing the text’s coverage beyond mythology into applied ritual law.
Correct performance (or duly authorized substitution) of piṇḍa and udaka during the ten-day period is presented as necessary for purification and for properly sustaining the departed through prescribed ancestral rites.
