FAQs

Ayurvedic viṣa-cikitsā (toxicology): it prescribes two antidotal formulations—(1) ambaṣṭhā + atibalā + kuṣṭha for insect/creature poisons, and (2) yaṣṭi + vyoṣa + jaggery + milk to reduce swelling and counteract poison.

It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s practical, compendium-style coverage by embedding clinical Ayurvedic prescriptions (ingredients, intended effect, indication like swelling/poison) alongside its broader religious and cultural teachings.

By preserving life and relieving suffering through dharmic medical knowledge, the instruction supports compassionate action (dayā) and protective duty (rakṣaṇa), aligning healing with righteous conduct rather than mere worldly benefit.
