FAQs

It gives an Ayurvedic Panchakarma instruction: prepare neem decoction mixed with paste for vamana (therapeutic emesis) and administer a barley-containing preparation as virechana (purgation) after prior snehana (oleation) and svedana (sudation).

Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves applied sciences; here it records clinical-style Ayurvedic protocols (drug form, indication, and preparatory procedures), showing its broad, handbook-like scope.

By prescribing purification therapies (śodhana) that remove bodily impurities, the text aligns physical cleansing with the broader puranic ideal of inner purification—supporting sattva, discipline, and readiness for religious practice.
