Related Themes: Agni Purana 282 (shodhana formulations)
It gives practical Ayurvedic śodhana instructions: a trivṛtā-fruit decoction with jaggery for virecana (therapeutic purgation) and milk processed with vacā plus a fruit-drug decoction to induce vāmana (therapeutic emesis).
Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves applied medical knowledge—specific drug forms (kvātha, medicated milk) and core Panchakarma procedures—showing its wide, reference-like coverage of classical Indian sciences.
Śodhana therapies such as virecana and vāmana are framed as purification practices: by cleansing bodily doṣas and impurities, they support ritual fitness, clarity, and the broader purificatory ideal valued in dharmic life.
