Related Themes: Agni Purana Adhyaya 4 colophon and avatāra section closure; Agni Purana Adhyaya 5 onwards: Rāma-avatāra narrative
It frames the textual transmission of the Rāmāyaṇa within the Agni Purāṇa and states its practical phala (result): disciplined recitation/study yields bhukti (worldly welfare) and mukti (liberation).
By incorporating an Itihāsa (the Rāmāyaṇa) into the Purāṇic corpus and explicitly linking it to soteriological and worldly outcomes, it shows how the Agni Purāṇa compiles multiple knowledge-streams—narrative tradition, doctrine, and spiritual practice—into a single reference text.
The verse presents Rāmāyaṇa recitation as a merit-bearing practice that supports both righteous living and final liberation, implying purification of karma through śravaṇa/paṭhana (hearing/study) of sacred narrative.
